Our Google Pixel 7a video review is up

The annual mid-range Google Pixel phone is arguably one of the most anticipated budget smartphones on the market and this year's Pixel 7a comes really close to the vanilla Pixel 7 in terms of features. However, beneath the surface, the Pixel 7a is just as capable. The handset sports Tensor G2 SoC, just like the Pixel 7, offers an excellent camera experience, and offers the same battery capacity as its more expensive sibling, while being slightly more compact. In any case, the device packs a serious punch and can challenge significantly more expensive handsets in some aspects, so...

As one commenter in last week’s poll says, the point of the Poco F-series is to deliver flagship performance at mid-range prices. Both the F5 models do that and while it’s not quite a 2023-level flagship performance, it comes really close. Of the pair, the vanilla Poco F5 is the breakout star – over half of the voters showed interest, it’s rare to see such a positive reaction. It beat its Pro sibling by a large margin, which is quite evident in the Pro’s own poll. The criticism of the F5 – it applies to the F5 Pro too – was predictable. iOS 17 is coming later this year alongside new iPhones, and a new report today from the generally very reliable Mark Gurman at Bloomberg sheds some light on what we can expect from Apple's next OS version, aside from performance improvements all-round. Perhaps the most intriguing new feature will be the ability to use your locked iPhone running iOS 17 pretty much like a smart display. It will show calendar appointments, weather information, and notifications in a new style reminiscent of an independent smart display. This view will allegedly only appear when the iPhone is in...

Samsung Galaxy S23 FE now rumored to arrive before the Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5

The sales of Samsung's Galaxy S23 family went down significantly this month, according to a new report from a leakster on Twitter. Rumor has it sales for the full second quarter (April to June) of the Korean company's flagship slab-style line will be down 20% compared to what the Galaxy S22 series managed last year. This seems to be down to lower than expected demand from "general consumers". The early adopters all bought their brand new devices by March, and after that apparently not many others wanted in on Samsung's latest and greatest. This is obviously far from ideal, and it allegedly...

Sony announces the ZV-1 II vlogging camera for $900

Sony has been on a bit of roll lately with its new ZV range of vlogging cameras and announced the newest member today in the form of the ZV-1 II, which is the second generation model of the three year old ZV-1. On paper, the new model isn't a major improvement over its predecessor. The biggest change comes in the form of a wider 18-50mm f1.8-4 lens compared to the 24-70mm f1.8-2.8 lens on the ZV-1. The new lens, however, is not optically stabilized. Most of the other changes to the ZV-1 II actually come from last year's ZV-1F. This includes features such as the USB-C connector,...
